Sunflower Hearts
So, how many sunflower hearts do we get through in a month? We get through 50lb of the stuff. And what does 50lb of sunflower hearts look like? It looks like this:
The full pint glass at the bottom is to give you an idea of the size of the buckets we use to store the hearts in. That little lot costs £28.

This time last year, I was getting through one of those bags of sunflower hearts in 10 days! I've cut right back now though, and just have one hanging feeder and two window ones with them in. The hanging one I could fill three times a day, but limit myself to morning and mid afternoon. Because I find it a struggle to lift the big bags, I now buy a 13 kilo sack at £16 which lasts about 2 weeks.
By the way, I am impressed - I googled for siskin nests as I was trying to see where mine may be nesting - I have a youngster on my hearts today - and I found your blog on the first page! Congrats. :) Janice
where do you buy your sunflower hearts from?mine cost me not much less than that for 20kilo.
