BTO/CJ Garden BirdWatch 2-8 July
Not much garden watching happened this week, but the highlight came on Saturday morning when three baby Siskins arrived with their Dad and fed near the kitchen door.
Another visitor on Saturday morning was a baby Blue Tit who fed, somewhat acrobatically, on the peanut ball feeder.
We haven't recorded a Pheasant in the garden for four weeks now.
We abandoned our plan to attract and photograph moths last night due to quite high winds - it's windy again this evening so it might be abandoned again!

How I envy you your list of birdies Emma. Nice, neat, compact and not manyof each species. I'm having such an expensive time here, you wouldn't believe. I am getting through 25k sack of Mixed Corn, 20k sack of Wild bird seed, and about 15k of sunflower hearts A WEEK at present! I tried to cut down on them, but I can't bear to see the disappointed little faces of the birds hanging round looking at the empty feeders. I did my sunflower hearts one yesterday 5 times ( a full 1 pt measuring jug at at a time) it was lasting about an hour. There are at least 30 or 40 greenfinches queuing for it, then god knows how many jackdaws eating the other stuff. Oh and 4 fat balls were gone in about an hour. Help!
Jesus! I don't envy you at all, Janice! I'm so relieved our numbers have dropped so much since the winter. I couldn't cope with that number of birds all year. Fewer birds in the garden also means more housework gets done!
I'm glad of the break at the moment!
