Hirsel Lake
We spent an hour in the hide at the Hirsel Lake today (12.30 - 13.30).
Whooper Swan 2
Mute Swan 89 - only spotted 4 juveniles among these.
Grey Heron 9
Tufted Duck 2
Little Grebe 6
Tufted Duck 2
Kingfisher 1
Coot
Mallard
Shoveler
Black-headed Gull
Herring Gull
Pheasant
Blue Tit
Blackbird
I think we struck lucky given the size of the lake - the two Whoopers were right in front of the hide.
Unfortunately, there was 100% cloud cover today, so the photos are rubbish! Is that a good enough excuse? :o)
And top marks to Birdman for spotting the Kingfisher to the left of the hide.

Did Birdboy go in the hide with you?
I could never keep my kids quiet when they were that age. I used to say they'd make terrible Indians.
No, he's at his Gran's this weekend.
Birdboy can talk. And talk. And talk. I didn't realise it was possible for anyone to talk so much.
He has been in the hide but he gets bored quite quickly. That's why I don't get much chance to go there. When we have been, Birdman takes him for a walk around the lake while I stay in the hide (with the bonus of fifteen minutes peace!)
