Woody ... Woodpecker

We're getting a small number of sick birds in the garden. The latest victims over the weekend were a very sorry looking Woodpigeon and a female Greenfinch.

The sick Woodpigeon

Yesterday we were visited by this female Great Spotted Woodpecker. It was getting on for 16.30 when she arrived, and it was also a very dull day, so the low light levels mean even worse pics than normal! Maybe one day they will venture up near the kitchen window.

Your woodpecker is gorgeous! I really love woodpeckers.

I feel bad for that woodpigeon. You have been getting more than your fair share of sick birds!

I think Jan in Wales is having the same problem with sick birds. Fortunately, i have`nt heard of any birds with the same disease down here in S.Yorks ( yet ).

Hope your wish comes true and the pecker makes it nearer to the house.

Dean.

Yeah, Jan's had a few problems with sick birds too. She's like Dr Dolittle, though. When animals need help they just seem to turn up at her place!
