BTO Garden BirdWatch 25 Feb - 3 March 2007
The figure in brackets shows the highest count of that species seen in the garden at any one time this week.
Today, Monday, is cold ( currently 6°C) and gusty. I am yet to see any activity around our nest box, or any of the others that I can see from the back garden. I have started to collect sheeps' wool from a barbed wire fence we pass regularly for any birds to take as nesting material. It was popular last year with tits and House Sparrows.
Lets have a look in the bird box, shall we?
Very empty at the moment - and has been since October/November last year when we had an overnight rooster for a week (Oct) and a fleeting visit in the daytime (Nov).
- Chaffinch (37)
- Greenfinch (23)
- Goldfinch (6)
- Starling (12)
- Woodpigeon (3)
- Blue Tit (1)
- Blackbird (2)
- Siskin (2)
- Sparrowhawk (1)
- House Sparrow (2)
