Sixth Egg and Incubation Started
Lola laid her sixth egg this morning - and incubation has started. Great Tits typically incubate their eggs for 13-14 days, so we're probably looking at around 11-12 May for hatching (incubation can vary between 10 & 22 days though).
An early-morning empty nest shows the 6th, and probably final, egg
It looks quite cozy...
...and uncomfortable!
Blimey!

I was so certain there would be 8 eggs. 6 is a more managable number. Go Lola!
I too guessed there would be 8 eggs, 6 will be plenty to keeps us all gripped over the next few weeks :-)
