We had a bright morning today - the first one in over a week...

As is quite normal, a Blackbird was busy in the garden before the sun was up. I scatter a pint of sunflower hearts around the shrub borders each evening and throw out some apples when I have them. The Blackbirds always arrive first, closely followed by a Robin.

The Siskins have been AWOL since mid-September. Hoping for a return visit soon.

Male Chaffinch

Pied Wagtail

And this little chap, a Blue Tit...

Wonder what happened to him...

Even using my binoculars I couldn't make out his left eye.

I've got one who's been in the wars too, at first thought he had only got one leg, but it is obviously broken, or deformed and it's tucked right up under him. Seems to be doing okay though, he can perch on the pot on the windowsill and get the suet pellets (that's if 20 Starlings don't beat him to it... )

Could have been anything. Cat, magpie, that sparrow hawk or other mean birds. I only ever see pied wagtails in the winter.
